Senior Environmental Engineer
(Air, Water, Wastewater Management)

 

Job Description:
Provide environmental services with primary focus on air quality management, and also water and waste water management, solid waste and hazardous materials management, pollution prevention, underground storage tanks, and natural resources management. Perform regulatory applicability analyses for projects in the industrial sector (power generation and manufacturing), mining sector, water resources sector, and transportation sector, and air quality modeling using ISCST3, AERMOD, and CALPUFF. Develop air quality permit applications under federal (New Source Review, PSD, Title V) and state-level regulations, and conduct and manage compliance audits using regulatory applicability analysis, permitting (NSR, PSD, and Title V), and compliance management for projects in all the areas including Alaska; specifically work on industrial projects including coal-fired power plants and process/manufacturing industries, and applicability analysis of EPA reactivation policy. Conduct and manage emissions inventory projects, perform engineering analyses and detailed calculations in developing air pollutant emissions inventories using meteorological data collection, ambient air monitoring, air emissions, water and wastewater sampling and analysis, water quality modeling, and noise measurement. Evaluate pollution control technology requirements and related economics per regulations (BACT, LAER, and RACT), and assist clients in permitting projects. Develop emission control and pollution prevention strategies for industries, conduct feasibility studies, and NEPA studies including environmental impact assessments. Work closely with clients to address environmental compliance issues and needs, determine requirements for emissions testing and monitoring (CEMs), and assist in procuring and managing related services for ensuring compliance with federal and state air regulations. Preparation of facility operating reports and other compliance reports required by the Air Quality Permits, regulatory analyses, dispersion modeling (AERMOD and CALPUFF), emissions/source testing, and monitoring programs (ambient, meteorological, and emissions). Assist the company in marketing, sales, proposal preparation, project negotiations, and provide client specific consulting services.

Special Requirements/Skills:
Prior work or education to include knowledge/experience in air quality dispersion modeling using ISCST3 and AERMOD; preparing permit applications (construction and Title V) and compliance management for industries with specific application to coal-fired power plants in Alaska; air emissions testing/monitoring, water and wastewater sampling and analysis, hazardous waste management, and noise measurement; applicability analysis of EPA reactivation policy; air pollution control, water and wastewater treatment methods/technologies, water quality modeling, development of emission inventories, and environmental impact assessment for power generation utilities and mining projects; knowledge of emissions testing and monitoring (CEMs), compliance programs and regulations; and skills in managing (a) pollution problems of thermal power stations, (b) training/conference programs, (c) projects, and (d) subcontractor work are necessary.

Education/Experience:

Environmental Engineer (Air Quality Management)


 
   

Job Description:

Develop emission inventories and prepare air quality permit applications under New Source Review, PSD, Title V, and state-level regulations, and conduct and manage compliance audits using regulatory applicability analysis, permitting (NSR, PSD, and Title V), and compliance management for industries, including coal-fired power plants and process/manufacturing industries. Develop and conduct performance testing of alternative fuels for diesel engines, specifically synthetic and fish oil fuels. Conduct and manage emissions inventory projects, perform engineering analyses and detailed calculations in developing air pollutant emissions inventories. Evaluate pollution control technology requirements and related economics per regulations, and assist clients with their permitting needs. Develop emission inventories and pollution prevention strategies for industries, feasibility studies, and NEPA analysis including environmental impact assessment studies for industries, mining activities, and power generation facilities. Work closely with clients to address environmental compliance issues and needs, determine requirements for emissions testing and monitoring (CEMs), develop and implement MACT compliance programs, and in procuring and managing related services for ensuring compliance with federal and state air regulations. Preparation of facility operating reports and other compliance reports required by the Air Quality Permits, regulatory analyses, emissions/source testing, and monitoring programs (ambient, meteorological, and emissions). Design, implement, and test the Compliance Management System (CMS) applications software. Manage client staff training programs and ongoing CMS system development. Assist the company in marketing, sales, proposal preparation, project negotiations, and provide client specific consulting services.

Special Requirements/Skills:
Prior work or education to include knowledge/experience in air quality dispersion modeling, air quality compliance management application development, testing, and analysis; regulatory applicability analysis, permitting (NSR, PSD, and Title V), and compliance management for industries, with specific experience in permitting, compliance management, ambient monitoring, air emissions, development of emission inventories and pollution prevention strategies for industries, feasibility studies, and NEPA analysis including environmental impact assessment studies for industries including power generation facilities; environmental laws and regulations, including their applicability to various sources for permitting and compliance management. Skills at developing and conducting performance testing of alternative fuels for diesel engines, specifically fish oil fuels.

Senior-Level Consultant/Project Manager

Job Description:
Senior-level environmental consultant/project manager position located in Anchorage, Alaska. Position requires both technical expertise and managerial oversight for a range of environmental consulting projects, including, but not limited to, power generation, air quality, and mining. The ideal candidate will direct high quality written deliverables both independently and as received from junior staff, ensuring that technical content is accurate, and that all outgoing documents and communications fulfill their ultimate intents. Project management will be oriented toward continuously meeting and improving our service offerings to clients, and includes the ability to produce final, top-quality proposals, client communications, and technical reports through superior writing skills and the ability to professionally self-edit.

The candidate will have a successful track record of managing cash flow and preparing cash flow projections in complex projects, and have expertise in staffing issues and employee management. A proven ability to continuously scope and redefine project objectives as necessary for the ultimate benefit of clients is a must.

The ideal candidate will also contribute to the growth of Steigers Corporation through a willingness to understand our ultimate business objectives, and will focus on the acquisition of new business and the expansion of our service offerings to a broad range of clients. Willingness to travel (primarily throughout Alaska) 25% or more is a must. Compensation is highly competitive for the ideal candidate willing to solidify and expand our growing firm.

Qualifications:
B.A./B.S. in Engineering, Geology, Environmental Science, or related field, with 15 years of experience as an environmental professional/project manager. M.A./M.S. or Ph.D. strongly preferred, with at least 10 years of experience

Junior/Mid-Level Air Quality Specialist

Job Description:
This position will support Steigers Corporation’s public and industrial clients’ air permitting projects with emphasis on the application of state and federal regulations, data analysis, and evaluation of air pollution control technologies. Job responsibilities will include preparing air emission inventories, dispersion modeling, air quality impact analyses, permit applications, BACT/MACT analyses, evaluating regulatory compliance, database input and management, and preparing correspondence and reports. The ideal candidate will possess superior written and oral communication skills, and will have the social and professional aptitude necessary to act as a representative of Steigers Corporation to clients and regulatory agencies.

Qualifications:
Minimum qualifications are: B.S. in meteorology, engineering, or related field, and 3+ years of relevant professional experience. Salary is highly competitive, and commensurate with capabilities and experience.
